December 7
1941 - The Documentary - Running time: 33 min.

Hawaii in the
early 1940's. And you are there! This is the story of the attack on
Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii. You will witness footage seldom seen,
depicting the attack, the widespread devastation... the civilian and
town collateral damage...
And a very touching overview of some of our men who lost their lives on
that fateful day. This segment introduces the servicemen with photos and
film of their respective families. One shows us the boy's father and
mother and his wife. And new baby. Born three months after Pearl Harbor.
We have a few short segments of solemn, very moving
ceremonies, at graveside with lei draping... and the same along the
beach with a phalanx of sailors and soldiers...
Includes an
interesting and inspiring portion of the documentary covering the
salvage, repair and reconstruction efforts.
The preparations
Hawaii undertook to guard against further attacks. The resurgence of
Pearl Harbor and the Navy. Shows how Hawaii changed for a while,
immediately following the attack. Blackouts. Deserted streets through
downtown. The sureal vision of the Aloha Tower, garbed in a camouflaged
paintjob. Schoolchildren of all ages performing drills. Duck and cover
in trenches. Small keiki donning bizarre unwieldly, cumbersome gas
masks.
We are treated to wonderful footage of Oahu, Hawaii in
the early 1940's. Revel in the visions offered by this rare and seldom
seen movie about Hawaii as the war's victim caught unawares... the
unintended and tragic, but inspiring story of Hawaii at War!

Attack in the
Pacific DVD - Running time: 52 min.

What do we have in this rarity? (Aside from
the fabulous war coverage...) Most all filmic elements we love! Such as
grass hut villages. Hula ceremonies. Outriggers swarming through
tropical south seas lagoons... Briefly covers some of the farflung
exotic islands that were virtually unknown before the war, at which
time, these little mini nations were unceremoniously and unwillingly
jettisoned into infamy and soon, the whole world knew of them.
This film fully exhausts all that is the subject of the Pacific
as a battlefield in the 1940's and its effect on these tiny islands.
